Qualifications and Experience

I trained at the University of Sussex and the University of Leeds qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist  1981. I worked in the NHS from 1981 – 2012, as well as in the private sector. I was a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the NHS  as head of service from 1999-2012

I practice CBT, Counseling,  Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, Solution focussed therapy, Intergrative therapy. I am also a trained Family Therapist and Couple Counsellor.

I am registered with the Health Professions Council, the government regulating body. I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and adhere to their professional code of ethics.

Professional career

I have  held NHS Consultant posts in London in Barnet Enfield and Haringey, working in hospital and community settings.  I  was Consultant Clinical Psychologist in an Acute Adult Psychology Service and subsequently head of the Health Psychology Service working with people with acute  and long term  physical health problems including auto immune Illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis;  Sickle Cell Anaemia, Arthritis, Cancer, Chronic pain, Heart Disease, Diabetes.  More recently I worked worked in the Royal London Hospital Haematology Service, and London Borough of Brent Diabetes Service.  I have   developed a service for people with Obesity in my private practice including the use of Hypnotherapy to change eating behaviour.

Funding and Fees

I am   an approved provider with the leading health insurance companies including Bupa, AXA-PPP, Aviva. I  also accepts those who can self fund.

If claiming though health insurers, it is advisable to obtain authorisation in advance. A GP or Consultant Specialist referral may be required.

Costs are competitive and and can be discussed prior to the first appointment.

Appointments that are not attended or cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will incur the full session fee.
